Yangshuo in May

Great time to visit

May offers fantastic weather for every outdoor activity, from cycling to climbing to river trips. Golden Week brings massive crowds, but outside those three days, it's one of the year's best months despite premium pricing.

Weather

May continues the excellent weather streak with warm, mostly dry days. Humidity climbs but afternoon breezes off the karst peaks keep things comfortable. Expect brief evening thunderstorms that clear quickly.

All Months

April through May brings perfect weather – warm but not sweltering, with spring flowers blooming in the countryside. The rice terraces start turning green, and you can cycle all day without melting. September through November offers the year's best conditions. Temperatures hover around 25°C, humidity drops, and autumn colors paint the karst landscape. November especially delivers crystal-clear skies perfect for photography. Avoid July and August unless you enjoy swimming in your own sweat. Summer temperatures hit 35°C with crushing humidity, and sudden thunderstorms can wash out outdoor plans. Winter (December-February) stays mild but gray, with persistent drizzle that obscures the mountain views you came here to see.
