But you'll pay premium prices and fight crowds at popular cellar doors. Spring (September-November) offers the sweet spot: mild weather, fewer tourists, and vine shoots just beginning to bud. The valley looks fresh and green, perfect for outdoor dining and scenic drives. Winter has its charms too – cozy fireplaces at wineries, fewer crowds, and some of the valley's best food festivals happen during the cooler months. Summer can be hot and dry, with temperatures hitting 35°C, though early morning hot air balloon rides over the valley are spectacular year-round. Whatever season you choose, weekdays beat weekends for a more relaxed experience and better service at restaurants.
