April through May brings perfect weather – 70s during the day, cool evenings, and everything's green. Fall (September-October) offers the same comfortable temperatures plus gorgeous prairie sunsets. Summer gets hot and humid, with temperatures hitting 90+ regularly. But the Wichita River Festival in May-June makes it worthwhile if you can handle the heat. Winter brings unpredictable weather – you might see 60 degrees or a blizzard, sometimes in the same week. Avoid July and August unless you love sweating through outdoor activities. December through February can be brutal with ice storms, though hotel rates drop significantly.
