Wasatch Front in September

Great time to visit

September is one of the best months to visit Wasatch Front.

All Months

Peak ski season runs December through February, when resorts like Alta and Snowbird receive their legendary powder dumps. But crowds and prices peak too – expect lift lines and $200+ hotel rooms. March offers the sweet spot of good snow with fewer people and lower prices. Summer transforms the Wasatch Front completely. July and August bring perfect hiking weather, with wildflower blooms in the high country and comfortable temperatures for camping. Park City's summer festivals, including the Sundance Film Festival overflow events, add cultural flavor. September might be the secret best month. Summer crowds disappear, aspen leaves turn golden, and you can still access high-elevation trails before snow flies. Hotel rates drop significantly, and restaurants offer patio dining with crisp mountain air. Avoid late April through May unless you enjoy mud season. Ski resorts close, hiking trails turn to mush, and the weather can't decide between winter and spring. June works better once snowmelt subsides and trail access improves.
