Wadi Rum Desert Camp in May

Good time to visit

May is a reasonable time to visit Wadi Rum Desert Camp.

All Months

October through April is prime time. Desert temperatures are actually pleasant — around 20-25°C during the day, dropping to 5-10°C at night. You'll need layers. December and January get surprisingly cold after sunset. We're talking near-freezing temperatures, so pack a proper jacket. But the upside? Crystal-clear skies and zero humidity make for the best stargazing conditions. March and April bring wildflowers to the desert — not many, but enough to add some color to all that red rock. This is also when you get the perfect temperature balance: warm days, cool nights. Avoid May through September unless you enjoy feeling like you're inside an oven. Summer temperatures hit 40°C+ during the day, and even the nights don't cool down much. The few camps that stay open during summer slash their prices, but there's a reason for that.
