Visayas in August

Not the best time

August isn't ideal for Visayas. Consider a different month.

All Months

The Visayas enjoys year-round warmth, but timing matters more than you'd think. December through May offers the driest weather and calmest seas - perfect for island hopping and beach days. March and April get seriously hot though, with temperatures hitting 35°C (95°F) regularly. January and February hit the sweet spot: sunny skies, manageable heat, and fewer crowds than the Christmas rush. But here's where it gets tricky: the region sits right in typhoon alley. June through November brings the wet season, with August and September seeing the worst storms. That said, rain often comes in short, intense bursts rather than all-day downpours. The shoulder months of June and November can offer good deals and fewer tourists if you don't mind occasional showers. Festival season runs October through January - Bacolod's MassKara Festival in October and Cebu's Sinulog in January draw massive crowds but incredible energy. For diving, visibility peaks during the dry months, especially around Bohol and Negros Oriental. Surfers should hit Eastern Visayas during the wet season when Pacific swells pump up the breaks around Siargao and Eastern Samar.
