April through October gives you the best weather and biggest swells. The dry season means clear skies for temple visits and consistent offshore winds for surfing. July and August bring crowds and higher prices, but also the most reliable conditions. May and September are the sweet spots - fewer tourists, perfect weather, and accommodation deals. The surf still pumps, and you can actually get a table at popular restaurants without booking ahead. Avoid January through March unless you love rain and small waves. The wet season turns dirt roads into mud pits, and many beach clubs close their lower decks when swells get too big. November can work if you don't mind occasional afternoon showers.
