November through March is peak season for good reason. Temperatures hover around 80°F instead of the face-melting heat of summer, and the harmattan winds keep humidity in check. December and January are perfect for hiking in the Atakora Mountains without dissolving into a puddle. The dry season also means better road conditions for reaching remote villages. But here's the catch — this is also when prices spike and accommodations fill up. April through October brings the rains, which isn't necessarily bad news. The landscape turns emerald green, waterfalls actually have water, and you'll have tourist sites mostly to yourself. Just pack good rain gear and embrace the mud.
