Table Mountain National Park in November
Great time to visit
November is one of the best months to visit Table Mountain National Park.
All Months
Cape Town's summer (October through April) offers the longest days and warmest weather, but it's also when the southeaster wind – locals call it the Cape Doctor – can turn your hike into a battle. This wind can gust over 60 km/h, making the summit unpleasant or even dangerous.
Early morning starts work best year-round. Begin your hike by 7 AM to avoid afternoon winds and heat. Plus, morning light on the city below is spectacular for photos.
Winter (May through September) brings shorter days but calmer conditions. The weather is more stable, though you might encounter some rain. Just dress warmly – it can be 10 degrees colder on the summit than at sea level.
Avoid hiking during Cape Town's fire season warnings, typically December through March. The mountain closes regularly during high fire danger periods, and for good reason – these slopes burn fast and hot.
