Southwest Ohio in April
Great time to visit
April is one of the best months to visit Southwest Ohio.
All Months
Late spring through early fall offers the best weather, with May and September hitting the sweet spot. Temperatures hover in the 70s, perfect for walking around Over-the-Rhine or exploring outdoor attractions like Kings Island. Summer gets humid - expect 80s and sticky air that makes you appreciate air conditioning.
Fall brings spectacular foliage to the region's many parks and scenic drives. Hocking Hills, about two hours southeast, explodes with color in October. But even local spots like Sharon Woods Park put on a show.
Winter can be harsh, with temperatures dipping into the teens and occasional snow that shuts down the region. But indoor attractions like museums and breweries stay busy, and hotel rates drop significantly. Spring arrives late - don't expect consistent warmth until May.
Event timing matters here. Cincinnati's Oktoberfest Zinzinnati in September is the largest in the country. Dayton's Celtic Festival in July draws crowds. Summer concerts at Riverbend Music Center and outdoor festivals make the humid weather worthwhile.
