South Sinai in January
Great time to visit
January is one of the best months to visit South Sinai.
All Months
October through April delivers perfect weather—warm days, cool nights, calm seas for diving. December and January can get surprisingly cold in the mountains; pack layers for Mount Sinai sunrise hikes. March brings wildflowers to Wadi el-Arbaein after rare winter rains. Avoid May through September unless you enjoy 40°C heat and scorching desert winds. Ramadan affects restaurant hours and alcohol availability, but creates beautiful iftar atmospheres in local communities. Russian Orthodox Christmas (January 7) draws pilgrimage crowds to Saint Catherine's Monastery. Diving conditions stay excellent year-round, though summer brings stronger currents at advanced sites like Ras Mohammed.
