Sighnaghi in December
Not the best time
December isn't ideal for Sighnaghi. Consider a different month.
All Months
September and October offer the best of Sighnaghi — harvest season brings the vineyards to life, temperatures hover around 20°C (68°F), and the light turns golden in the afternoons. You'll see grape pickers in the fields and smell fermenting wine from every cellar.
May and June work well too. Wildflowers cover the valley, the weather's mild, and you'll have the town mostly to yourself before summer crowds arrive. But some wineries limit tastings during this quiet season.
July and August get hot — often hitting 35°C (95°F) — and bring more tourists, especially on weekends when Tbilisi residents escape to the mountains. Book accommodation ahead during summer.
Winter can be magical if you don't mind cold. Snow sometimes dusts the Caucasus peaks, and the fortress walls look particularly dramatic against gray skies. But many restaurants close or reduce hours, and marshrutka service becomes unreliable.
Avoid Georgian holidays like New Year and Easter when domestic tourists pack the town and prices spike. The shoulder seasons of April and November offer good weather with fewer crowds.
