April through June and September through October offer the best weather — warm days around 20-25°C without the brutal summer heat. July and August can hit 40°C, making sightseeing miserable. Winter brings temperatures down to -10°C, though the city looks beautiful under snow. Spring is ideal for visiting nearby Aksu-Zhabagly Nature Reserve when wildflowers bloom. Fall harvest season means the best produce at the bazaars and comfortable temperatures for walking around the old town. Avoid January and February unless you're specifically seeking a winter experience — many outdoor attractions close or have limited hours.
