Russia in October

Good time to visit

October is a reasonable time to visit Russia.

All Months

May through September offers the best weather across most of Russia, but timing depends on your goals. Moscow and St. Petersburg shine in late spring and early fall when crowds thin out and temperatures hover around 15-20°C. White Nights in St. Petersburg (mid-June to early July) are magical but expect premium prices and packed attractions. Summer is your only shot at Siberia and the Far East — Lake Baikal warms up enough for swimming by July, and that's saying something since it's the world's deepest lake. Kamchatka's brief summer (July-September) brings wildflowers and accessible hiking trails. Winter travel works if you're chasing the Trans-Siberian experience or want to see Moscow covered in snow, but pack serious cold-weather gear. January temperatures in Siberia regularly hit -30°C. Spring brings mud season to rural areas, making some roads impassable.
