Rhode Island in August
Great time to visit
August is one of the best months to visit Rhode Island.
All Months
Summer owns Rhode Island, but that comes with crowds and premium prices. July and August bring perfect beach weather and mansion tour season, but expect traffic jams on Route 1 and $400 hotel rooms in Newport. May and June offer the sweet spot — mild weather, blooming gardens at the mansions, and reasonable crowds. September and October deliver New England fall colors without the tour bus madness. The Newport Mansions look stunning surrounded by autumn foliage. Winter visits work for Providence's restaurant scene and cozy inn stays, but many coastal attractions close. Spring arrives late here — April can still feel chilly and raw. Block Island practically shuts down from November through April, so plan accordingly.
