Rajasthan in December

Great time to visit

December is one of the best months to visit Rajasthan.

All Months

October through March offers the only comfortable weather for sightseeing. Daytime temperatures hover around 25-30°C (77-86°F) with cool nights perfect for rooftop dining and desert camping. December and January can get surprisingly cold — pack layers for early morning fort visits. April and May turn brutal with temperatures reaching 45°C (113°F). The pre-monsoon heat makes afternoon sightseeing nearly impossible. Some desert camps and outdoor restaurants close during these months. Monsoons (June-September) bring limited rainfall to this desert state, but humidity makes the heat feel worse. Many heritage hotels offer significant discounts, but you'll spend most time indoors. Festival timing adds another consideration. Diwali (October/November) lights up the cities beautifully but books hotels solid. The Pushkar Camel Fair (November) creates a unique spectacle but also crowds and inflated prices. Holi (March) covers everyone in colored powder — fun if you're prepared, chaotic if you're not. Winter wedding season (December-February) can make luxury accommodations scarce as wealthy Indian families book entire heritage hotels for multi-day celebrations.
