Pantanal in June

Great time to visit

June is one of the best months to visit Pantanal.

All Months

Dry season from May through September offers the best wildlife viewing, hands down. Animals concentrate around remaining water sources, making spotting easier. The weather stays comfortable – warm days, cool nights, and virtually no rain. Roads stay passable, and you can walk areas that turn into lakes during wet season. July and August represent peak season, with the best jaguar viewing along riverbanks. But expect higher prices and more crowds at popular lodges. June and September offer similar wildlife viewing with fewer people and better deals. Wet season from December through April transforms the landscape into a vast lake system. It's spectacular in its own way – millions of birds nest during this time, and the photography can be incredible. But many lodges close, roads become impassable, and mosquitoes reach biblical proportions. The shoulder months of October-November and April-May can work well if you're flexible. October still has some lingering dry season benefits, while April offers post-flood wildlife concentrations as waters recede. Just be prepared for unpredictable weather and some muddy conditions.
