July through September delivers the Peninsula's best weather – and its biggest crowds. Hurricane Ridge stays accessible, wildflowers bloom in alpine meadows, and you can actually see the mountains instead of just their cloudy outlines. June works if you don't mind some rain and cooler temperatures. The upside? Waterfalls run at full force, everything glows emerald green, and you'll have trails mostly to yourself. Just pack serious rain gear. Winter brings different rewards. Storm-watching from coastal lodges becomes a legitimate activity when 15-foot swells crash against sea stacks. The Hoh Rainforest looks even more mystical draped in mist and dripping constantly. But Hurricane Ridge closes frequently, and many park roads become impassable. Avoid late October through early December if possible. This is peak storm season, when Pacific weather systems slam the coast with 60+ mph winds and horizontal rain. Even locals hunker down during these months.
