Olympic National Park in August

July through September offers the most reliable weather, with the driest conditions and warmest temperatures. August is peak season — expect crowds at popular spots like Hurricane Ridge and the Hoh Rainforest, but also the best chance of clear mountain views. September brings fewer crowds and stunning fall colors, especially in the deciduous forests around Lake Crescent. June can be excellent if you don't mind some rain. Wildflowers bloom in the alpine areas, and you'll have more solitude on the trails. But many high-elevation areas like Hurricane Ridge still have snow patches, and some backcountry roads don't open until mid-June. Winter transforms the park into a completely different experience. The coastal areas remain accessible and dramatic, with storm-watching opportunities at beaches like Ruby Beach. Hurricane Ridge becomes a winter sports area with cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. But be prepared for road closures and limited services — many visitor centers operate on reduced hours or close entirely from October through March.
