Myanmar in March

Great time to visit

March is one of the best months to visit Myanmar.

All Months

November through March delivers perfect weather — sunny days around 80°F and cool nights that actually require a light jacket. This is peak season, so book accommodation early and expect higher prices. But the clear skies make Bagan's sunrise balloon rides possible and turn Inle Lake into a mirror. April and May bring brutal heat. Temperatures hit 105°F in the shade, and there isn't much shade. The upside? Fewer tourists and rock-bottom hotel rates. If you can handle the heat, you'll have the temples mostly to yourself. Just start your sightseeing at sunrise and finish by 10 AM. The monsoon runs June through October. Heavy rains flood roads and cancel flights, but the countryside explodes in green. This isn't gentle tropical rain — it's sheets of water that turn streets into rivers. Some remote areas become completely inaccessible. But if you're flexible with plans and don't mind getting soaked, the dramatic storms are spectacular. Here's what the guidebooks don't tell you: the shoulder months of October and April offer the best balance. October brings the first cool weather after months of rain, while April delivers the last comfortable days before the heat hits. Hotels cost less than peak season but the weather stays manageable.
