Monrovia in July
Not the best time
July isn't ideal for Monrovia. Consider a different month.
All Months
November through March is your sweet spot. The rains have stopped, roads are passable, and temperatures hover in the low 80s with ocean breezes. December and January are particularly nice — less humid, clearer skies for those Providence Island photos.
Here's what nobody tells you about rainy season: it's not just rain. We're talking daily downpours that turn streets into rivers and make getting around a real adventure. June through September sees the heaviest rains. Some roads become completely impassable, and power outages spike.
But dry season has downsides too. Harmattan winds blow in from the Sahara between December and February, bringing dust that coats everything and can irritate your throat. The heat builds through March and April before the rains return.
Avoid major holidays unless you're here for the party. New Year's and Independence Day (July 26) see prices spike and transport get chaotic. But if you can handle the crowds, the celebrations are worth experiencing at least once.
