Midnight Sun in February

Not the best time

February isn't ideal for Midnight Sun. Consider a different month.

All Months

The midnight sun season varies by latitude, but May through August offers the best combination of endless daylight and decent weather. Tromsø's midnight sun runs from mid-May to late July, with June and July offering the warmest temperatures around 60°F. May can still be snowy and cold. Utqiagvik gets midnight sun from May 10 to August 2 — the longest period anywhere. But temperatures rarely hit 50°F even in July. Ilulissat's season runs late May through mid-July, with July being warmest and best for boat tours around the icebergs. Svalbard offers midnight sun from mid-April through late August, but June and July provide the most wildlife activity and accessible terrain. Here's what nobody tells you — the constant daylight messes with your sleep cycle hard. Bring blackout curtains or an eye mask.
