Michigan in October

Great time to visit

October is one of the best months to visit Michigan.

All Months

Summer owns Michigan. July and August bring perfect weather, warm lake temperatures, and every attraction running full speed. But you'll pay peak prices and fight crowds everywhere. June offers the sweet spot - warm days, fewer tourists, and spring wildflowers still blooming. September delivers Michigan's secret season. Crowds disappear after Labor Day, but weather stays warm through the month. Fall colors peak in late September up north, early October down south. The show lasts about three weeks statewide. October brings crisp days perfect for hiking and apple picking. November starts winter's approach, but deer hunting season brings its own tourism. Winter transforms the UP into a snow sports wonderland. Marquette averages 150+ inches annually. Cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, and ice fishing take over from December through March. But the Lower Peninsula gets gray and slushy. Spring arrives late and muddy. May brings wildflowers and migrating birds, but black flies can be brutal in the forests.
