Mérida in January

Great time to visit

January is one of the best months to visit Mérida.

All Months

November through April offers the best weather – warm days around 28°C and cooler evenings perfect for strolling. December and January see the most tourists, especially around Christmas and New Year's when hotel prices spike. March brings ideal conditions before the heat really kicks in. You'll catch the tail end of the dry season with comfortable temperatures and minimal rain. This timing also puts you here for Equinox at Chichen Itza, when shadows create the famous serpent effect on the pyramid. April can get hot – we're talking 35°C by afternoon – but crowds thin out and prices drop. Early mornings and late evenings remain pleasant for walking around. May through October brings intense heat and humidity, plus the rainy season. But look, if you can handle the weather, you'll have the city mostly to yourself. Many restaurants and hotels offer low-season discounts, and afternoon thunderstorms provide dramatic relief from the heat.
