Meghalaya in October

Great time to visit

October is one of the best months to visit Meghalaya.

All Months

October through March delivers Meghalaya's sweet spot — clear skies, comfortable temperatures, and waterfalls still flowing from the previous monsoon. November and December offer the clearest views and best trekking conditions, though nights can drop to near-freezing in higher elevations. January and February bring the driest weather but also the most tourists, especially around Christmas and New Year when Shillong transforms into party central. March marks the beginning of spring with wildflowers blooming across the hills, though temperatures start climbing. Avoid April through September unless you enjoy swimming through clouds and watching waterfalls from a distance. The monsoon season from June to September brings the state to life but makes travel genuinely challenging — roads wash out, bridges become impassable, and that famous Double Decker Root Bridge trek turns into a muddy nightmare. But if you can handle the conditions, monsoon season offers the most dramatic scenery and the fewest crowds.
