Maxvorstadt in May

May through October gives you the best weather for walking between museums and sitting in beer gardens. Summer brings long days - it stays light until 9pm in June, perfect for evening strolls through the university district. September and October are ideal; the students are back, creating energy in the cafes and bars, but the summer crowds have thinned out. Avoid January and February unless you love gray skies and 3pm sunsets. The Christmas markets in December are lovely but expect crowds around Königsplatz. Spring arrives late here - don't count on warm weather until mid-May.
