Maldives Dive Atolls in February

Great time to visit

February is one of the best months to visit Maldives Dive Atolls.

All Months

November through April delivers the goods. Northeast monsoon brings calm seas, consistent visibility, and reliable weather. This is manta season in most atolls, with cleaning stations active and feeding aggregations happening regularly. Whale sharks patrol Ari Atoll year-round, but sightings peak during these months. December and January are prime time but also peak season. Liveaboards book up months ahead, resort prices hit their highest, and popular dive sites can feel like underwater traffic jams. Book early or pay premium rates. May through July brings the southwest monsoon and Hanifaru Bay's manta feeding spectacle. Up to 200 mantas can gather in this small bay when conditions align. But weather becomes unpredictable — expect some cancelled dives and rougher seas. August through October is low season for good reason. Rough seas, reduced visibility, and frequent rain make diving challenging. Some liveaboards stop operating entirely. But if you can handle variable conditions, you'll find better prices and fewer crowds. Just don't plan a once-in-a-lifetime trip during these months.
