Kimberley in October

Good time to visit

October is a reasonable time to visit Kimberley.

All Months

The Kimberley has two seasons: accessible and underwater. Visit during the dry season (April to September) unless you enjoy being stranded. April and May offer the sweet spot—roads are open, waterfalls still flow from wet season rains, and temperatures hover around 30°C. Tourist numbers stay reasonable. June through August brings peak season. Perfect weather but higher prices and crowded campsites. Book accommodation months ahead, especially in Broome. September marks shoulder season's return. Still dry, slightly warmer, and tourist crowds thin out. Great value for money. The wet season (October to March) transforms the Kimberley into a green paradise—if you can reach it. Roads flood, tours cancel, and cyclones threaten. Some lodges close completely. But if you're stuck somewhere safe, the lightning shows are spectacular. Temperatures range from 25°C in winter to 40°C+ in summer. Pack layers and prepare for dramatic temperature swings between day and night.
