Killington in July
Great time to visit
July is one of the best months to visit Killington.
All Months
Ski season typically runs from November through April, with the best conditions from January through March. Killington opens earlier and closes later than most East Coast resorts thanks to their snowmaking system. But early and late season means you're skiing on mostly artificial snow.
January and February bring the coldest temperatures but also the most reliable powder. Weekend lift tickets cost $150+, and everything books up fast. If you can swing a midweek trip, you'll save money and deal with smaller crowds.
Summer hiking season peaks in July and August when the weather is most reliable. The gondola runs from late June through mid-October, taking you up to the summit for hiking or just the views. Fall foliage season (late September through early October) is spectacular but also the busiest time for summer activities.
Mud season (April through May) is when locals take their vacations. Many restaurants close, trails are muddy messes, and there's not much happening. But if you're looking for deals on accommodations, this is your window.
Here's the thing about weather in Vermont — it changes fast. Pack layers no matter when you visit. A sunny morning can turn into an afternoon snowstorm in winter, or a cool morning can become a hot afternoon in summer.
