Summer months from June through September offer the best weather and longest daylight — up to 19 hours in July. Roads are completely clear, all facilities open, and you can actually enjoy walking around without freezing. July and August bring crowds but also lupine flowers carpeting the landscape in purple. September hits the sweet spot with fewer tourists, decent weather, and early northern lights possibilities. Winter visits work but come with challenges: 4-5 hours of daylight, icy roads, and some facilities closed. The upside? Frozen waterfalls look spectacular, and you might catch aurora activity. Avoid March and November — you get winter weather without winter beauty or summer convenience.
