Gobi Desert in November

Good time to visit

November is a reasonable time to visit Gobi Desert.

All Months

May through September offers the only realistic window for most travelers. July and August bring the warmest days but also the crowds — relatively speaking, since you might encounter a dozen other tourists across the entire desert. June hits the sweet spot with warm days, cool nights, and green patches where rare rains have fallen. September offers crisp mornings and fewer bugs, but nights drop below freezing. May can still see late snowstorms, while October brings harsh winds and the first serious cold snaps. Summer temperatures swing wildly — 30°C during the day, near freezing at night. Pack layers and a serious sleeping bag. The Naadam festival in July brings extra cultural experiences but books up accommodations quickly. Winter visits are possible but require serious cold-weather gear and experienced guides.
