April through June brings wildflowers to the mountains and perfect hiking weather. Temperatures hit 70°F in Tbilisi while Svaneti stays cool for trekking. September and October mean harvest season – wineries buzz with activity and grape-picking festivals fill every village. Summer gets hot and crowded, especially in Batumi where beach resorts jack up prices. Winter brings snow to the mountains but shuts down most guesthouses outside Tbilisi. The Gudauri ski season runs December through March, though lifts break down regularly. Spring rains make some mountain roads impassable until May.
