Georgetown in May

Great time to visit

May is one of the best months to visit Georgetown.

All Months

Spring and fall are Georgetown's sweet spots. April through May brings cherry blossoms along the Potomac, while September and October offer perfect weather for walking those hilly streets. Summer gets swampy — DC humidity is no joke. But the waterfront restaurants open their patios, and you can catch outdoor concerts at Georgetown Waterfront Park. Just pack lightweight clothes and lots of water. Winter is quiet and beautiful, especially after snow dusts the Federal-style architecture. Many restaurants offer cozy fireplaces, and hotel rates drop significantly. The trade-off: shorter days and bone-chilling wind off the Potomac. Avoid graduation weekend in May if you're not here for Georgetown University ceremonies. The entire neighborhood gets overrun with families, and restaurant reservations become impossible.
