Flores East in April

April through September offers the best balance of dry weather and comfortable temperatures. The dry season peaks from June to August - perfect for hiking volcanoes and island hopping, though expect crowds in Labuan Bajo during July and August. April and May are ideal: roads are passable after the rains but vegetation is still lush and green. September extends the good weather while tourist numbers drop. October through March brings heavy rains that can wash out roads and make volcano hikes dangerous, though this is when waterfalls are most spectacular. Temperatures stay fairly consistent year-round thanks to the elevation - expect 20-25°C in the highlands, warmer along the coast. The shoulder months of April, May, and September give you the best of both worlds.
