Dry season (August through February) brings the clearest water and calmest seas on the Mar de Dentro side. This is peak season, so expect higher prices and advance booking requirements. December and January see the most crowds and highest accommodation rates. March through July brings afternoon rain showers and rougher seas, but also fewer tourists and slightly lower prices. The trade winds pick up during wet season, making the Mar de Fora side better for surfing but the Mar de Dentro side choppier for swimming. Sea turtle nesting season runs December through June, with peak activity in February and March. Spinner dolphins show up year-round at Baía dos Golfinhos, usually between 6-8am. For the best balance of weather, prices, and crowd levels, visit in March, April, October, or November.
