Egypt in March
Great time to visit
March is one of the best months to visit Egypt.
All Months
October through March offers perfect weather — warm days, cool nights, and clear skies for photography. December and January are peak season, so expect crowds at major sites and higher prices.
March brings occasional sandstorms but fewer tourists. The light is gorgeous for photography, and hotel rates drop 30% from winter peaks.
April gets hot but manageable. By May, Upper Egypt hits 40°C (104°F) daily. Summer is brutal — Luxor reaches 45°C (113°F) and Aswan even hotter. Some sites close midday.
Ramadan affects opening hours and restaurant availability. It moves through the calendar, so check dates before booking. Many locals fast during daylight, creating a different energy.
Winter nights in the desert get surprisingly cold. Pack layers for Sahara trips. The Red Sea stays warm year-round for diving, but winter brings better visibility underwater.
Avoid Egyptian holidays like Eid when everything shuts down and domestic tourism peaks.
