Ecuador in December

June through September gives you the best weather across most of Ecuador – dry in the highlands and less humid in the Amazon. December and January work too, especially for the Galápagos when sea lions are pupping and marine iguanas are mating. But avoid February through May if you're planning serious hiking – that's peak rainy season and trails turn into mud slides. The coast has two seasons: wet (December-May) and dry (June-November). Surfing peaks during the wet months with bigger swells, while dry season brings clearer skies for beach time. Amazon weather stays pretty consistent year-round – hot, humid, and afternoon thunderstorms. Galápagos temperatures barely change, but ocean conditions vary. Cooler waters from June to November mean better diving but rougher seas.
