Dumaguete in February
Great time to visit
February is one of the best months to visit Dumaguete.
All Months
December through May offers the driest weather and calmest seas for diving and island hopping. March and April get hot — temperatures hit 34°C regularly — but the lack of rain makes outdoor activities more predictable.
January and February provide the sweet spot of comfortable temperatures (26-30°C) and minimal rainfall. Hotel prices stay reasonable except during Chinese New Year and Valentine's Day when Filipino couples descend on the romantic restaurants.
The rainy season runs June through November, but don't write it off completely. Morning showers often clear by noon, and the countryside looks incredibly green. Dive operators still run trips most days, and you'll find better hotel deals.
Avoid late September through October when typhoons occasionally brush the region. While direct hits are rare, rough seas can cancel island trips for days at a time.
University breaks in March-May and December-January bring more energy to the nightlife scene but also higher accommodation demand near campus. Book ahead during these periods if you want to stay in the university area.
