Dominica in October

Not the best time

October isn't ideal for Dominica. Consider a different month.

All Months

December through May offers the driest weather and calmest seas for whale watching. This is peak season, so book accommodations early and expect higher prices – hotels can cost 20-30% more than summer rates. January through April provides the best whale watching opportunities. Humpback whales migrate through Dominican waters, and sperm whales live here year-round. Sea conditions stay calm, perfect for boat trips. The rainy season runs June through November, but don't let that scare you off. Afternoon showers keep everything lush and green, and you'll have waterfalls at their most powerful. Hotel rates drop significantly – sometimes by half. Hurricane season peaks August through October. Dominica sits in the hurricane belt, but storms often pass quickly. Many eco-lodges close during September and October for maintenance. Avoid Carnival season (February/March) unless you're here for the party. Roseau gets crowded, prices spike, and booking accommodations becomes nearly impossible without advance planning.
