Djurgården in November

May through September gives you Djurgården at its best. The island transforms in late spring when apple trees bloom in Rosendal Garden and outdoor cafés reopen. June and July bring white nights – sunset doesn't happen until after 10 PM, so you can wander the parks until late. August means crayfish season, and locals pack picnics for evening gatherings in the royal parks. September offers perfect walking weather without summer crowds. Winter isn't terrible – the Vasa Museum and Skansen stay open, and snow makes everything prettier. But half the restaurants close, and those long dark days hit hard. The Christmas market at Skansen in December draws huge crowds, so book museum tickets in advance if you're visiting then.
