Cortina d'Ampezzo in July
Great time to visit
July is one of the best months to visit Cortina d'Ampezzo.
All Months
Cortina's ski season typically runs from mid-December through early April, but timing matters more here than at most resorts.
January and February offer the most reliable snow and the longest days on the mountain. January can be brutally cold - we're talking -15°C mornings - but the trade-off is empty slopes and crystal-clear mountain views. February warms up slightly while keeping the powder, making it the sweet spot for most skiers.
March brings longer days and spring skiing conditions. The snow softens by afternoon, which intermediate skiers love but experts might find limiting. Plus, Italian school holidays in early March can pack the slopes.
December is hit-or-miss for snow coverage, especially early in the month. But if you hit good conditions, you'll have the mountains mostly to yourself.
Summer transforms Cortina completely. June through August brings hiking, via ferrata climbing, and some of the most spectacular mountain scenery in Europe. The Tre Cime di Lavaredo hike becomes accessible, and the mountain huts serve lunch with views that'll ruin other mountain ranges for you. Hotels drop their rates by 40-50%, making it prime time for budget-conscious adventurers.
