Coromandel Peninsula in February

Great time to visit

February is one of the best months to visit Coromandel Peninsula.

All Months

Summer (December to February) brings warm weather and crowds, especially to Hot Water Beach and Cathedral Cove. January temperatures hit 25°C, perfect for swimming but expect queues at popular spots. Autumn (March to May) offers the sweet spot – still warm enough for beach days but with fewer tourists and better accommodation prices. The peninsula's pohutukawa trees bloom brilliant red in December, creating Instagram-worthy coastal scenes. Winter (June to August) sees temperatures drop to 15°C, but hot springs feel even better in cooler weather. Spring (September to November) can be unpredictable with rain, but it's the best time for hiking with wildflowers blooming and waterfalls at full flow.
