Copper Canyon in July
Not the best time
July isn't ideal for Copper Canyon. Consider a different month.
All Months
October through March gives you the sweet spot – warm days, cool nights, and minimal rain. December and January can bring snow to the rim towns like Creel, so pack layers. But the canyon floors stay warm enough for swimming year-round. April and May heat up fast, with temperatures in the deep canyons hitting dangerous levels by afternoon. The rainy season runs June through September, turning dirt roads to mud and making some areas completely inaccessible. That said, the canyons look incredible after summer rains, with waterfalls appearing overnight and everything turning green. If you're planning serious hiking, stick to the dry months. The train runs year-round but can face delays during heavy rains. November offers the best balance – perfect hiking weather, clear skies for photography, and fewer crowds than the peak winter months.
