Charlotte in March

Great time to visit

March is one of the best months to visit Charlotte.

All Months

Spring hits Charlotte like a revelation. March through May brings 70-degree days, blooming dogwoods, and baseball season at Truist Field. The city shakes off winter and everyone heads outdoors — perfect weather for the Whitewater Center or walking the Rail Trail. Fall rivals spring as Charlotte's sweet spot. September through November offers crisp mornings, warm afternoons, and football season. The leaves turn spectacular in Myers Park, and brewery patios stay comfortable through Thanksgiving. NASCAR's playoff races at Charlotte Motor Speedway happen in October when the weather cooperates. Summer gets hot and humid — think 90 degrees with matching humidity. But the pools open, festivals fill the calendar, and the energy peaks. Just plan indoor activities during the heat of the day. Winter stays mild compared to northern cities, with January highs around 50 degrees. You'll catch occasional snow, but it melts fast. Hotel rates drop significantly, and you'll have museums and restaurants mostly to yourself. The downside? Many outdoor attractions close or reduce hours.
