Central Texas in June
Good time to visit
June is a reasonable time to visit Central Texas.
All Months
March through May brings wildflowers carpeting Hill Country roadsides — bluebonnets peak in early April. Fall (October-November) offers perfect weather for outdoor concerts and river floating without summer crowds. Summers get brutal — Austin regularly hits 100°F, and swimming holes become essential rather than optional. But summer also brings outdoor concerts at Zilker Park and late-night music crawls when venues open their patios. Winter stays mild (50s-60s) with occasional cold snaps, making it ideal for barbecue crawls and indoor music venues. Avoid major festivals unless you're attending — SXSW in March and ACL in October triple hotel prices and clog traffic. Fredericksburg's Oktoberfest runs September-October with authentic German beer and music. Spring break brings college crowds to San Marcos and New Braunfels rivers.
