Cabo Verde in July

Good time to visit

July is a reasonable time to visit Cabo Verde.

All Months

November through May delivers Cabo Verde's sweet spot. Trade winds keep temperatures around 25°C (77°F) and humidity low. December and January see the most European visitors escaping winter, so book accommodations early and expect higher prices. The dry season runs from November to June, with virtually zero rainfall. Perfect for beach days and hiking. But here's the thing – Cabo Verde stays pleasant year-round thanks to those Atlantic trade winds. Even August, the hottest month, rarely exceeds 30°C (86°F). Rainy season lasts from July to October, though 'rainy' is relative. Total annual rainfall barely reaches 250mm, less than London gets in two months. The brief showers actually improve hiking conditions on Santo Antão, turning the valleys green. Wind patterns matter more than rain. The harmattan winds from the Sahara can bring dust clouds between December and February, reducing visibility and coating everything in fine sand. Not ideal for photography, but it doesn't ruin trips. Festival season peaks in February and March. Mindelo's Carnival rivals Rio's smaller celebrations, while each island celebrates its patron saint with multi-day parties. São Vicente honors São Vicente Ferrer in late April with street parties and live music.
