Bay of Fundy in June

Great time to visit

June is one of the best months to visit Bay of Fundy.

All Months

Summer and early fall deliver the Bay of Fundy's best conditions. June through September offers warm weather, calm seas, and the longest days for tidal watching. But here's what most guides won't tell you: September might be the sweet spot. The summer crowds thin out, but weather stays mild and the fall colors start showing up in the surrounding forests. Whale watching peaks from July through September when right whales, humpbacks, and minke whales feed in the nutrient-rich waters. The extreme tides stir up massive amounts of plankton and small fish, creating a feeding frenzy that draws whales from across the Atlantic. October can be spectacular if you don't mind cooler temperatures and the chance of storms. The fall colors throughout New Brunswick and Nova Scotia are incredible, and you'll have most viewpoints to yourself. Winter visits require serious planning. Many coastal attractions close, and weather can be brutal. But if you're committed to solitude and don't mind bundling up, the winter tides can be even more dramatic with ice formations and storm waves. Spring arrives late here – May still feels like winter most years. The key is flexibility. Weather changes fast along this coast, and tidal timing doesn't care about your schedule. Plan to spend at least three full days so you can experience multiple tidal cycles and adjust for weather delays.
