Bath in August
Great time to visit
August is one of the best months to visit Bath.
All Months
May through September offers the best weather and longest days. Summer temperatures rarely top 25°C, perfect for walking those Georgian streets without overheating.
June brings the Bath Festival — three weeks of classical music, literature, and jazz. Book accommodation early as prices jump 30% during festival weeks.
July and August see the biggest crowds. The Roman Baths queue stretches around the block by noon, and restaurants fill up fast. But the weather's most reliable and all attractions run extended hours.
September might be the sweet spot. Crowds thin out after school holidays, but weather stays mild. The autumn light makes those honey-colored buildings glow.
Winter has charm if you don't mind shorter days. The Christmas Market (late November to mid-December) transforms the city center into something from a Dickens novel. Hotel prices drop significantly, and you'll have attractions mostly to yourself.
Avoid weekends if possible — day-trippers from London pack the streets. Tuesday through Thursday offers the best balance of open attractions and manageable crowds.
