Ban Gioc Falls in July

September through February gives you Ban Gioc at its most dramatic. The falls reach peak flow during and just after Vietnam's rainy season, which ends around October. November and December are ideal - maximum water volume with clear, cool weather perfect for hiking. January and February bring occasional fog that can obscure views, but also create mystical photo opportunities. March through May sees declining water levels as dry season kicks in. By June, the falls can look disappointingly thin. July and August bring heavy rains that make access roads treacherous and visibility poor. Local operators sometimes cancel bamboo raft rides during peak rainy season for safety reasons. Early morning visits (7-9 AM) offer the best lighting and fewer crowds, plus you'll catch the mist creating rainbow effects in the morning sun.
