Arlington in August
Not the best time
August isn't ideal for Arlington. Consider a different month.
All Months
Spring hits Arlington perfectly from April through June. Cherry blossoms bloom along the Potomac in early April, and you'll dodge the worst DC tourist crowds while enjoying 65-75°F weather. Hotel rates stay reasonable except during Cherry Blossom Festival weeks.
Fall delivers ideal conditions from September through November. Temperatures hover in the 60s-70s, humidity drops, and the changing leaves look spectacular from Arlington's hills. This is peak tourist season for DC area, so book accommodations early.
Summer brings heat and humidity that'll drain you by noon. July and August see temperatures in the 80s-90s with oppressive humidity. But hotel rates drop significantly, and you'll have shorter lines at major attractions.
Winter keeps crowds minimal but weather unpredictable. December through March brings temperatures in the 30s-50s with occasional snow. Arlington Cemetery and outdoor memorials lose their appeal, but indoor attractions like the Pentagon tours continue year-round.
